Can you post a screenshot of notification you got?
the observation occurred in the general area where you’re observing. so i’m guessing probably you subscribed to the observation at some point. this could happen if you, say, add an identification and then delete it or accidentially fave and then unfave an observation. or you may have even explicitly chosen to follow this observation. if you want to unfollow, you can click on the gear on the top-right corner of the notification in your screenshot, or click the follow/unfollow button on the top right of the observation detail page.
