I’ve read, somewhere, of an orchid in Japan that tricks its midge pollinators into captivity and death to allow only a handful to escape and effect pollination. I’m convinced that I read right and that while there may be some hyperbole regarding the exact pollination dynamics, this plant really does exist. I would love nothing more than to see this plant in the wild and watch it as it employs its grizzly means of procreation
