Interesting. I can’t decide if seeing invasive C. scoparius in my top 10 is boring or depressing. LOL. This was good. I need to get out to capture more of our rare and disappearing natives (some here, but some important ones not in my top 10). I wish there was a way to see my top 10 species I have ID’d for others. That would be interesting to me as well.
My previous post was #201.
- Mule deer live out west. Apparently there are more of them than of white-tails.
- Marmorated bugs are invasive here and I’ve observed them quite often.
- Fan clubmoss, see above.
- Liquidambar is common around here. If there are only leaves, I may have trouble telling it from maple.
- California newt, see above.
- Green anole, I’ve seen a few more.
- White-tailed deer is local; I’ve been hit by one.
- If it’s not in its native habitat, it’s a chicken.
- I think all of them have been caterpillars (woolly bears).
- Sometimes I’m not sure if it’s dogfennel or a closely related species.
The yellow-rumped warbler I’ve seen but not heard. The Carolina wren I’ve heard but not seen. The barred and great horned owls I’ve identified only as Strigidae.
#42 is Ophiocordyceps camponoti-floridani. I don’t think I’ve identified anything to that species. If I find O. camponoti-qualiscumque identified to species, I ask if the ant has been identified.

“spelt” is acceptable these seven days, as long as it’s baked before it has time to sprout or start rising. But if you spelt “spelt” as “emmer”, I’d say you spelt it with the wrong lettuce.
When I clicked it, iNat told me “D’oh, something went wrong.”

I had a feeling mine was going to be a hodgepodge :) The only thing that surprised me was that a mammal cracked the top 10 — I do vaguely remember going on a chipmunk spree when I first started IDing, though. I think I was just happy there was something I could help with.
I mostly ID unknowns and coarsely-ID’d plants, though….I have a feeling that “dicot” is my true #1 hah

All birds, as well as some squirrels thanks to the people I follow (I think practically all if not all American red squirrels are from one user alone!
The first insect, Asian lady beetle, is 22nd, and the first springtail, Homidia socia, is 27th.
Probably because I do a wide variety of IDs of all sorts, but since birds are the most common, they show up in the highest group.
Blue jay is my first place winner!
Next thing you know they’ll be saying “ain’t” is a proper word. Oh, wait…
