My question is about duration and venue to place my recording last Sunday of coyotes having a suppertime howl session; I don’t need them i.d.'d, nor the raven … but there is a mystery sound–possibly a bittern (rarely seen here) or a beaver?–that I’d like opinions on. Is there a Merlin for mammals?
I’ve managed to edit out my mumblings, and could make a separate recording 30 seconds long of the unknown creature, which seems to grunt just after a raven does, so possibly it’s a sound the raven’s making, or its fellow, or one is harassing another creature.
This would be ideal. Please write detailed notes under your observation, explaining the situation (as you did here in your forum post), as well as what you are trying to identify.
Okay—great. Tutorial’s helpful. So, a 30-second clip, and placed here in my post? (I just tried to post in on Facebook, knowing one can likely not attach an MP3 or OGG to that, and I was right.) I don’t think I could post those on iNaturalist, either. It’s almost inaudible, the unknown creature. Truly don’t know if bird or bear or even amphibian.
