100th observation!

Just uploaded my 100th observation- a moth of unknown species. Wanted to say a big thank you to everyone on here who have turned a dodgy and uncertain start into something I am really enjoying and I hope, making a small positive difference !!

Thank you all

That’s really exciting. Thank you for uploading and sticking with the process. We are all learning here.

Congratulations!

It looks like your 100th observation is of an invasive species: the Light brown apple moth (Epiphyas postvittana), which is native to Australia and New Zealand, but is rapidly spreading across Ireland and the UK (and other places around the globe). But don’t take my word for it right away - I personally have no experience with this moth, as it doesn’t seem to have reached my country the Netherlands yet (at least not in great numbers).

Thank you all for your lovely sentiments. If I’d known it was an invasive species I’d have squished it (not really !)

Yay! Congratulations!
Here’s a long-running forum thread where people post many of their achievements:

We are always equally thrilled by someone’s first 100 observations, as we are by someone reaching 1000 species, or 100,000 IDs.
I can remember my excitement at reaching 100 obs, or a 100 species, although that was several years ago, and long before I discovered the forum, and all the supportive folks here.

Welcome to iNat and the forum!

Welcome! The 100th observation is always fun for me. Trouble is, that happened once. :P

But then there’s your 1,000th observation. And the 5,000th, the 25,000th, and that mythical beast, the 100,000th. I’m still aiming for that last one!
