Following on from the forum post on the uses of a stereo microscope, here is my hack for focus stacking - much faster to use than a tripod. It is just a cheap translucent plastic container with a circular hole cut in the top. Place it over the object, focus etc and hold the camera down hard and press the shutter. Mine is 5 cm high.

Very smart!! Maybe the cover itself could replace the diffuser if one only wants to do focus stacking for the day
