Guys I’ve decided to begin a story based on the lives and battles of Formica and Polyergus ants, because the conflict of these tribes are insane and epic. Problem is while I’ve got the story part of this project nailed down, the information and facts are a bit harder for me to get. So could fellow entomologists and myrmecophiles suggest good articles and websites to do research on, and could those interested help me figure out the game-of-throne esque lives of these epic ants?
Also idk if the inat forum is the right place to put this topic, or if this goes by the rules. So if I gotta move/change it pls tell me.

years ago i wrote a short paper about dulosis/slave-making behavior in ants. hazy memories now, but when i get home later i’ll look at the sources i used for that.
i recall Adventures Among Ants: A Global Safari with a Cast of Trillions having an entertaining take on colony raiding

okay i certainly stand by the rec for Adventures Among Ants if you want a good read on lots of ant behavior etc
for a more deep dive, i’d recommend scrolling down on this antwiki article on social parasitism and checking out the first reference, Buschinger, Alfred. (2009). Social parasitism among ants: a review (it’s a pdf, i don’t wanna link directly)
