Hello!
I have a pre-existing wildlife pond that will be entering its third summer this year! It’s installed at my parents’ house (the grind of working up to a permanent position as a field biologist is real lol) and my mom has mentioned a few times that she’d love a waterfall addition to it (I would also enjoy it). What I’m envisioning is a slightly elevated platform that mimics a stream and would end with the waterfall my mom wants. There would need to be a pump obviously for this that would take water from the pond and send it down this ‘stream’. I guess my biggest question related to this would be, what’s the best pump to get this job done? The biggest concern I have is it sucking up bug larvae, tadpoles, diving beetles, etc. The pond is first and foremost there to support wildlife, so even with a fun addition, I want to make sure I’m not hurting any that have already taken up residence. Any tips for what’s a good setup for this?
Here’s a photo of the current pond from last summer, not sure if that’s at all helpful for this question or not lol
