Agrobacterium radiobacter/other plant pathogen "Needs ID" Observations showing up in "Unknown"

Platform: Website

Browser, if a website issue: Firefox, also noticed on Edge

URLs (aka web addresses) of any relevant observations or pages: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/identify?page=4&iconic_taxa=unknown&place_id=42 not sure if this will bring you to the right page, screenshots attached

Screenshots of what you are seeing:

Description of problem:

Step 1: Go to “Identify”, set specifications to Location:Pennsylvania US and Categories:Unknown

Step 2: Most observations will only show Life/Unknown or Genus/Family disagreements, but some will show down to species that are not yet Research Grade.

I notice this mainly with A. radiobacter- likely due to how common it is- but I’ve also noticed it with other things, namely plant pathogens (Bacterial Leaf Scorch is also highlighted in the screenshot, and I’ve seen Rose Rosette Disease at the Needs ID stage when ID’ing Unknowns). I don’t know if this is a glitch or just something on my end, but a friend told me it seemed off and that I should post about it.

Welcome to the forum!
Viruses, bacteria, and archaea didn’t get their own icon and so are sorted together with unknowns. If you don’t want them in your search results, you can add &identified=false to the URL, and you can see further discussion on this topic: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/create-iconic-taxa-for-bacteria-archaea-and-viruses/1464
