Virus observation is both Research Grade and "Unknown"

Platform (Android, iOS, Website): Website (didn’t try others)

Browser, if a website issue (Firefox, Chrome, etc) : Safari 13.1.2, but that seems likely to be irrelevant

URLs (aka web addresses) of any relevant observations or pages: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/55131919

Description of problem (please provide a set of steps we can use to replicate the issue, and make as many as you need.):

Step 1: Click “Explore”

Step 2: Leave Species blank. For Location, enter “Australia”

Step 3: Click “Filters”, and click the dotted-leaf-outline-around-question-mark that represents “unknown”

This gives the following URL: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?page=2&place_id=6744&subview=grid&iconic_taxa=unknown

The displayed results include a Research Grade observation of a virus (URL supplied above). I imagine the problem is that viruses aren’t really “life”, but it seems like a bug to put them under “iconic_taxa=unknown” when they have a place in the taxonomy and can be made Research Grade.

Viruses (and a few other taxa) always show in Unknown.

It’s a known issue going back to at least 2016:

Thanks @Star3, this is the first time I had run across it since I don’t usually look at Unknowns. Definitely seems worthy of improvement – I will vote for that feature request.
