Android app uploading observations despite observations not being submitted

Hi! There have been three occasions now when the Android app has uploaded observations despite me not actually tapping the tick button at the bottom of the app to submit it (in two cases, the photos did not belong to me and I was simply using the CV out of curiosity with no intention of submitting, and in another I’d accidentally opened the submit page).

Key here is that, in at least two cases, I didn’t formally delete the observation using the trash icon on the upload page - I simply closed the app by swiping out. I’m 100% certain I didn’t accidentally hit upload in these cases.

I’ve found that unless I delete observations that are in the process of being uploaded, they will upload automatically. I thought this might be intentional so work isn’t lost if something crashes partway through.

I assumed that as well up until the app uploaded a completely blank observation when I accidentally opened the upload page this morning

Yeah, the app will automatically upload obseratoins in this case, if you have auto upload turned on. It’s been like this as long as I remember

So it’s an intentional design, even if no information has been filled out or pictures/audio selected?
