Annotations for eggs

When annotating observations of just eggs, do you put down the Evidence of Presence as egg and organism, with the Life Stage being egg, or do you just put egg for Evidence of Presence?

On top of that, would you annotate Alive or Dead as Cannot be Determined?

I’m curious as to how others handle these situations.

Well, an egg is an organism within an eggshell (Presence: Organism & Egg, Life Stage: Egg). Annotating both also has the advantage that users looking for egg observations may find it regardless of whether they choose Presence: Egg or Life Stage: Egg. Ultimately, we annotate things so that others can find them.

An egg is also evidence that it is laid by an adult organism (Presence: Egg, Life Stage: Adult) but I doubt someone seriously annotates like that. Egg observations are more rare than adults.

Alive or Dead is useful for roadkill / bones / etc. I don’t think it is of much use for eggs, especially since it is rarely evident.
