Any Ambassadors in Oregon, Willamette Valley (USA)?

I’m thinking about leading some Ambassador activities starting in 2026. I’m based in Corvallis, Oregon (between Portland and Eugene). Before I make plans, I’m wondering if any Ambassadors in my area have anything in mind.

I think I’ll start with the “Introduction to iNaturalist” and “How to Make a Good Observation” slideshows (https://www.inaturalist.org/pages/resources). I might give these slideshows at a local venue, and if I do decent job, I’ll plan another and record it so it can be shared online.

Here in Corvallis, we have an established community of naturalists that began years ago, before iNaturalist. I can draw an audience among this community to get started. I regularly lead local nature excursions and have encouraged the use of iNaturalist and Seek. So some are iNaturalist users. It’s a small community, primarily adults but sometimes people bring their kids.

I don’t have a lot of time because I do this as a hobby, outside my day job, that’s unrelated to nature observation. Eventually, I’d love to join forces with other Ambassadors to expand iNaturalist outreach and activities.

More info about our local nature community can be found at: https://neighborhood-naturalist.com

I’m in the Willamette Valley. I’m good at making Powerpoints and giving presentations. Terrible at organizing. Botanist and general naturalist. Perhaps I can be of help. Let me know. (This is kind of curt – sorry. I’m busy.)

Thanks for replying! I’m very aware of your prolific activity on iNaturalist and I think it’s awesome! For now, I’m starting by letting the Ambassador community know that I plan to give presentation, probably in early 2026. I’ll plan an organize the event. In case anybody else is already thinking about doing some Ambassador outreach, we can at least know about each other, coordinate or even join forces. I can share my work if you’re interested and I’m open to input. It’s nice that iNaturalist has already given us presentations to work with.

I am so glad you’re doing that! I feel I should but . . . .
