Welcome to the forum, Linda!
@tiwane and @kestrel, there have been a few of these threads where users are “Trying to connect with other ambassadors in my area”:
https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/a-call-to-future-canadian-ambassadors/
https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/long-island-ny-inaturalist-ambassadors/
https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/any-inaturalist-ambassadors-or-users-from-istanbul-here/
After a few seconds of searching, it looks like Discourse offers a locations plugin:

Maybe ambassadors could be directed to a page like that? They could put their pin on a map (if they want to), and look for nearby pins to collaborate with?
Just brainstorming a more efficient way to do this, rather than hoping that a fellow ambassador sees your random forum thread.
You could manually match people up, but I think the mapping and pin method takes the workload off of you. It might also help clients who want to access an ambassador, since they can search the map to find one.
Not sure how it works with data privacy laws, but presumably ambassadors are already putting themselves out there to some extent. It just has to show their city or their general area (e.g. “Southern California”).
