I’ve been having a similar issue. It seems like loading the existing observation list when opening the app takes an inordinate amount of time. During this time, the app is unusable. This makes it much more difficult to take observations, especially of wildlife.
This started immediately after the latest big app update when the interface was changed and has been ongoing since then.
