iNat Next extremely slow and unresponsive

Description of problem :

The app is barely functioning today and yesterday for me - incredibly slow to load - it´s become unusable.

Platform (Android, iOS, Website):
iOS 18.3.2

App version number :
0.59.13 (156)

Screenshots of what you are seeing :

I think this is probably a function of the fact that you have saved, un-uploaded observations. See my post here for my experience of the problem. I am having this issue at present as well; I uploaded all the observations that were drafts at the time of my writing that thread, but I have about 30 now and the app has become very slow again.

Could be connected, but I´ve had up to 200 not uploaded before and it´s never been as slow as this - it´s unusable.

I believe it might be related to the most recent update – I never had this problem before until recently either…

yes…I wondered if it was connected to a change in an update…

I’m just hoping we get an additional update that fixes this; surely we can’t be the only two people saving up a queue of observation drafts in the app, and this is a really huge functionality problem. It looks like we’re running the same version of the app, 0.59.13, which is the update after which I started noticing the issue. I don’t recall ever having this problem with “iNat Classic” aka the original iOS app.

Same here, and I don’t have any things queued up normally at least that I know of. It was fine until 1-2 weeks ago and then some update caused it to become incredibly slow and unresponsive.

Are you able to send log files to us? Here’s how:

  1. Go to the About screen in the app
  2. Tap on the version number thrice. That will turn on Debug Mode, you’ll see a pink banner on parts of the app.
  3. Attempt to load observaitons.
  4. If it’s still taking a while, go to the side menu and tap on Debug
  5. Tap on Log at the top
  6. Tap on Email to email the log to us
  7. Exit Debug Mode by going to back to the About screen, you’ll see a button.

Done!

I was having the same issue for a couple weeks here recently. I’m very intensive user of the app and it made it unusable. I just switched back to the old app because it was that slow and unresponsive. I can happily say that I found a solution (at least it seems that way so far)! I simply deleted then redownloaded the app and it’s since worked just as it had before! I know next to nothing about computers, but I’m wondering if it was some sort of cache issue? 15,000 observations. And there were no saved but un-uploaded observations.

Delete and redownload also seems to have fixed the issue for me.

Deleting and reinstalling the app fixed it for me as well. The slow performance had started immediately after the update a few days ago.

ditto for me :)

Yes, same here…

Though there must have been an issue with the update if we are all doing this :)
