This is my situation, too. I hope to get back into eBird someday, though.

Hi,
sorry if this is rude, but you donât have to tag people when replying to them on the Forum.
No itâs not rude. Iâm still learning how to use INatForum.
This was a good morning for birding. I saw some crows, blue jays, chickadees, both kinds of kinglets (golden- and ruby-crowned), juncos, a white-throated sparrow, a bald eagle, and the highlight of the day, a fox sparrow! Challenge completed!
Nice. This morning was a great morning for birding here to. Here is the links for my observations: https://ebird.org/checklist/S200317482. I got to see a juvenile Yellow-bellied sapsucker.
That was a good reminder that I havenât made a concerted effort to photograph birds lately. So this morning I set up my real camera on a tripod in the window, and watched the comings and goings near our birdfeeders. Itâs always like âGrand Central Stationâ out there.
I didnât catch any migrants, just ordinary (for us) species: Northern cardinals, House finches and House sparrows, Tufted titmice, etc.
Here are a beautiful Blue Jay:
and a female Hairy Woodpecker:
I donât use eBird, only iNat, and donât consider myself a birder, although I do love them!
Great photos!
Anyone else have some cool bird photos or recordings?
Here are some older ones:
This owl was definitely worth the long drive and cold for,
unlike this Swainsonâs hawk, which was the easiest rarity EVER.
My lifer varied thrush, also very rare in Maine, was spotted after a half hour in a bitterly cold January.
Many said that it was hard to see the first Atlantic Coast record of the hepatic tanager, but I got this mega in 5 minutes.
Although not rare, I like the photos for this blue jay and this blue jay.
Very cool! The Northern Hawk Owl pic is awesome, plus all the others!
The Northern Hawk Owl is very fascinating.
Do you have many owls in your area?
I hear barred owls often, great horned owls rarely, and like to chase saw-whet owls, although nothing ever turns up.
Cool!
Anyone have any cool birding stories?
Not having a telephoto, I canât usually get âgoodâ bird photos. Thatâs why I am especially pleased with this Anhinga from the past summer. We donât get many of those around here; in fact, this was only my second Anhinga sighting outside Florida (the other one being some high-flying silhouettes over Cape May in the spring of last year).
Sure! This spring (2024), I found a long-tailed duck in a pond, the first one in the area!
Cool find!
