Awesome!
Anyone have any cool birding stories from this week?
Havenât had much action around here this week. Unless you count trying to balance on one leg while dumping at least a pound of snow out of your boot after you had gone chasing after a Pacific Wren.
That counts! Lol.
Yes, today I was in the car and saw an adult bald eagle eating a dead carcass in a field. Sadly, it was not safe to stop and take pictures.
Cool!
How do you erradicate starlings?
Iâm the only one in my family [besides my uncle] who is into gardening. My grandmother got my father into birdwatching and my father got me into birdwatching.
Btw, is âbirdingâ a term that has recently become popular? In the old days, I kmow you would say âbirdwatching.â
How do I follow users on the forum. I dont wanna miss a post by you or Keira.
Go to the bottom of the thread and bookmark the thread and you will be notified when someone replies.
Also just a heads up make sure you stay on topic when youâre in a thread or it may get flagged.
Thanks!
Iâve seen it begin to be used more often in the Audubon club meetings by everybody in the last two or so years. The idea is that since lots of the birds are identified by sound, âbirdwatchingâ doesnât include listening for them, or âbirding by earâ.

There have been three (maybe four ) snowy owl sightings in Ohio already this winter. The most current is near Huron, Ohio. We birders who live near Cleveland hope they come our way. When there has been a significant movement of these owls in the past, we usually get some on the break walls off shore and in the airports.
This morning I saw a Merlin at a local community college campus. It is a reliable site for them.
Thatâs so cool! Iâve always wanted to see a snowy owl.
Donât you get them in Alaska? I thought that would be a good place, since itâs so far north.
From what I know, they are common at the top of the state but not where I live.
So cool!
