I would like to download a dataset from GBIF of some of my iNat observations to have a doi to be referenced in an article but I do not find the way to filter the dataset using iNaturalist labels, the only way I can select the relevant records I am including in my research (doing it manually or by location is not an option in this case). Is there a way to do it or a work around?
Can you share an example of what you mean by label? Depending on what you are trying to do this might be a better question for the GBIF forum.
Scroll down to the bottom to search using individual iNat record numbers.

Select “iNaturalist Research-grade Observations” in the Dataset field on GBIF.
Try this on GBIF:
Occurence search → All filters → Occurence → Recorded by → enter your iNat-Name

Thank you all for the reply but as stated above I am looking for a way to filter based on tags (this is what I meant by labels). I know how to filter on my username and iNat datasets. I would like to replicate this iNat search in GBIF:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=any&q=Punta%20Alice&user_id=frahome&verifiable=any
where Punta Alice is a tag of the observations. In iNat I can search for it using the description/tag filter.
I don’t think iNat tags are searchable in GBIF (ie, they aren’t included in the data sent to GBIF).
You might be able to get a list of your iNat observations with that tag, and then use those observation numbers to generate a dataset on GBIF that you could download and cite.
But if these are all your own observations, there’s no problem with uploading them to a data sharing service as their own dataset and getting a doi that way too.
…
that said, not all of your observations in this set meet the requirements to be sent over to GBIF. so not all of them will be available over there.
Ok thank you, possibilities are clear now, it seems that using the API might be the only way. It shouldn’t be too difficult and if needed I might give it a try.
