Change in iNat next functionality

I’m using iNat next version 0.59.12 (155) for IOS

  1. Starting today, when I open the app, the main observe button is a camera, when I press the button it says “loading inaturalist’s AI camera” then opens the camera.

  2. I almost never want to take a picture in app, so then I go to the bottom right icon for the photo album upload (side note: I do not see a microphone icon for recording sounds) and click that, it shows my photo album–instead of allowing me to select multiple images, after I select one it goes to the AI identification page.

  3. If I click “save,” then it takes me to my main page. If I want to add more images, I have to select that observation to open it.

  4. However, when I just tried that with an observation that someone had already identified, I did not see an option to add more images.

Am I the only one experiencing this? It is a problem, since I try to have multiple images for each observation, and I almost always upload from my photo albums rather than using the app in the field. This is going to be a nightmare if it stays like this during the city nature challenge.

Oh thank goodness. I appreciate this so much @carrieseltzer .
I know everyone is different but the idea of going immediately to the ai camera is baffling to me. I guess it would make it somewhat more user friendly to beginners, but it really felt like an unwelcome loss of control.
