Changing ownership of a place?

Hi all,

Is it possible for someone who created a place to transfer “ownership” of that place to someone else?

I ask because we wanted to have a location for the Bird Alliance of Oregon Sanctuary (https://www.inaturalist.org/places/portland-audubon-wildlife-sanctuary), and a former staffer set one up, and now we need to edit it (the .kml bc of sanctuary change, and the name).

I could send him the new kml, but in the long run we thought it better for me to be the one that controls that location. So, is it better for me to set up a new one altogether, or can he transfer the old one to me?

I may be mistaken about this, but I think ‘ownership’ only applies to projects, not to places.

Transferring ownership or editing ability of a project is easy.

In my experience editing the place associated with a project gets messy though as you sometimes wind up with multiple places/areas overlapping.

You could consider creating a new one and then asking a curator to merge the old and new.
