I have submitted photos on three different days of deer. The deer look the same to me. However, they have been identified to research grade as different types of deer.

April 27, 2020 at 6:11 am mdt the deer were identified as Mule deer.
April 25, 2020 at 6:55 am mdt the deer have not been identified
January 20, 2020 at 4:01 pm mst the deer were identified as Mule x White-tailed deer.
Are they different types or the same type of deer?
If they are different types of deer how do I tell the difference?
I don’t know anything about deer. but I suppose @jwidness had a reason to label your deer as a hybrid of two species. You could always ask?
The unverified Deer-record may have escaped people’s attention or is maybe not easily identiable.
People with high number of ID’s for a species often (but not always) know their species and are often able to tell you what the differences are.
If you don’t want to ask, surely there are plenty of webpages on US deer and even US hybrids (mixed breed)
