Cross-Reference 2 observations, same specimen, different dates

If I have two different observations, taken at different times (seasons), of the same tree, how can I cross-reference these two observations so that one can refer to the other? An example: I take a photo of a deciduous tree in winter. I know the id but it would be difficult for others to confirm this. I then take another photo when features are available to accurately id the tree. I would like to be able to use this confirmed id to confirm the id of the first observation

there are many ways to do this, but i would try something like this as a first option: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/using-the-field-similar-observation-set-for-linking-observations-of-lepidoptera-when-raising-on/1018

A similar observation set is one option (see above) but simply including a link to the other observation in a comment is just as useful and perhaps more straightforward.

that makes sense. i didn’t read all the way to the last sentence in the original post:

a comment is probably what another person coming around to identiy is most likely to see.

When you add the second obs, link 2 back to 1, and 1 forward to 2, in the comments. You know it is the same plant, but identifiers cannot until you tell them.

Thank you all. This has been most useful and solves my problem
