Darkened thumbnails at "Group Photos" stage of upload?

Is my eyesight just getting bad or are the square thumbnails of photos in the “Group Photos” stage of upload darkened or partially darkened? I find this very disconcerting because I’m often trying to sequence and group sets of images based on small details of each image and it’s just harder to see details in the darked thumbnails.

Is there any reason for those darkened thumbnails?

Yeah they’re a bit darker, I suspect to ensure that the white circle is visible. Might be a better way to deal with that, though.

Thanks @gcwarbler for catching this … the thumbnails shouldn’t have that dark gradient on them, and we’ve added it to our fix list.
