Is there a way to search the text included in identifications?
Most of mine don’t show up when adding &mine=true to @arboretum_amy’s link, I think because they were in the “identification” itself, not a separate “comment”
Yes, unfortunately comments embedded with an identification are still not searchable. There was a Feature Request for that several years ago, which sadly Staff decided not to pursue.

- Use the new DQA for - not a single subject.
- You can ID, but do not have to.
- You can leave a comment - as a courtesy to the observer and future identifiers.
We can use the DQA without an ID to push a broken obs to Casual, until the observer resolves the issue.
In the same way that I will either ID a cultivated plant - if it is obvious and easy - or push straight to Casual (without an ID). For newbies I leave a comment - iNat for wild.
Will reprocess my share of that 10K (13 pages). @tiwane 's prompt to use a text expander now worth its weight in (gold AKA) restored lost species ;~)
you can’t filter for them server-side, but regular folks can do some client-side filtering in this case, since @dhasdf has under 10,000 observations for others.

This is a great addition to the DQA! Is there a URL hack yet or plans for updates to the identify pages to filter these out for those of us who like to check through Casuals when we identify?

just the way filtering works in iNaturalist generally, i don’t think there’s a great way to filter vote-based items. almost certainly, you’d have to do that kind of filtering yourself (client-side as opposed to server-side, similar to what’s described in my post above). but even if you’re comfortable doing things (partially) outside the system, exactly how you would do it depends a bit on your desired workflow.
for example, would you rather find multi-species items so that you can mark them all as reviewed to get them out of the way forever? or would you rather search for single-species items so that if the multi-species observations get resolved later, they can automatically fall back into your universe of observations to be identified?
probably the most obvious way to filter out multi-species is to translate single-species disagrees to -1 and agrees to 1, then look for the sum of these votes >=0. but maybe would it be better to filter based on the last agree/disagree? (the latter would allow you pick up cases where, say, there were 2 disagrees followed by the observer fixing the situation and adding 1 agree)…

Very often observations get created with photos of several different organisms (oftentimes likely taken at unrelated times/locations). While it’s ok for photos to contain multiple species (e.g., a photo of a mixed-species bird flock), each photo in an observation should contain the organism of interest.

Looks like you’ve observed a few different species in the photos here. Each species should be on its own separate observation. There are some tips for splitting the observation up here: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/how-to-fix-your-observation-with-photos-of-multiple-species/15096. Please make a comment if you split the photos, so I can update my ID.
I encourage the “please make a comment…” bit. People do actually make corrections and this allows me to update my DQA vote.

I was not so enthusiastic when I heard about this new DQA item
Firstly, and this could be easily addressed, the term “Evidence related to a single subject” can be misunderstood, especially for non-native speakers. Irrespective of a future explanation in the guidance, its purpose should be directly clear from the few words in the DQA section - and I fear some people might read it as there could also be ambiguosity within a single photo (i.e. multiple species visible). So I would advocate to change the wording to something like 'all photos/audios relate to same subject'
On a similar note, when I saw this string to be translated in Crowdin, it was presented without any context, so I had no idea what would be a proper way to translate it. That was, until I saw the latest blog post. I hope that there aren’t any translations in other languages now which where done before the context was clear and might now be confusing or even misleading (even more than the original string, I mean)
Secondly, I have an issue with the guidance by @loarie in the blog post comment to
please prioritize (1) voting no to the new DQA condition. After that it’s also helpful to (2) add IDs of the nearest shared taxonomic node and (3) to politely ask the observer to split the observation. But since 1 will move these observations to Casual, 2 & 3 are not as high priority if you don’t feel like doing these additional steps.
Observers do not get notified about DQA votes applied to their observations, and I uploaded some observations myself where by mistake unrelated photos were included. I certainly would want to be notified and I am sure most IDers using the new DQA vote will comment on the observation as well, but with above statement it might appear sufficient for some to just move the observation to ‘casual’ status without the observer even noticing - all in good compliance with the guidance. And I don’t feel this is a good way to interact with such cases
