We are trying to import eBird data into iNaturalist using the process below, and it’s not working. After manipulating the file from eBird to iNaturalist, then uploading, there is not indication that the file was imported.
I have not tried that process but eBird and iNat record data in fundamentally different ways so it’s probably not going to be a great conversion. What’s the goal of importing the eBird data in this case?
I did import some photos and audio from eBird to iNaturalist. I downloaded the eBird data only for records with media. I was able to modify that to make a bulk upload spreadsheet for iNaturalist, then I added the media. In most cases, the eBird location coordinates are for general bird hotspots, not for specific sites where the media was gathered, so I did a lot of manually resetting the location.
I’m afraid I can’t help with particulars now, as this was some time ago.
without seeing your csv file, it’s going to be difficult for someone else to discern to whether the problem is in your data, in iNat’s bulk import process, or somewhere else in your process.
