"Failed to save record. Please try again later." error coming up when I try to add an ID

i deleted the observations when it happened before i realized it was a wider-spread glitch, and now it seems to be working fine, so i can’t recreate the issue

was having issues, now resolved

Seems resolved ? My glitchy obs had three IDs from me - deleted 2. Holding steady at RG.

My IDs look correct now - fingers crossed. Site still a little laggy, which has me worried, but :crossed_fingers: have been able to ID some more without the errors.

The problem returned.

Issue returned for me as well: tested with an “Agree” on the observation linked below and it “failed to save record“

https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/337678148

Update: ID just loaded on that observation

agreed returned again.

But it appears from what I can work out, that the identifications are saved, but they are reported as failing. If you look you will see that observations go from Needs ID to RG, so the ID has saved, even though it is reported not to have. And the IDs do appear after a few minutes (and several refreshments).
So lots of duplicates are being posted by users retrying.

Tried to vote something cultivated - that saved but my thumbs down doesn’t show

i’m seeing an error where a batch of observations I just uploaded via web don’t show thumbnails and then returned 404 when I click them, ex: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/337710072

and as I was typing this they seem to have disappeared completely…

I was seeing that happen while looking in Explore…the first time I thought it was someone new being strange, the second time I realized it was probably a bug

happening to me too, stopped for a little while but starting again

It’s happening to me too. It says “failed to record record” but then the ID shows up on the observation. It’s been happening for 6-7 hours.

Mac OS 12.6.3
Firefox 147.0.3

Same issue multiple browsers

I am still getting the error quite a lot, often even after getting the message, my IDs appear as withdrawn and they are fine after I reinstate them.

Same here (Chrome). I don’t know if I can peacefully ignore the message because the ID is eventually saved (seems to be the case), or if sometimes the ID will never show up (then I would be sad doing ID session for nothing)

It’s too bad, as I was trying to continue uploading batches of old data as fresh observations today. But it’s been glitchy for hours, so time to give up and read some literature.

Same here. Can’t add any IDs. @tiwane

The POST to https://api.inaturalist.org/v2/identifications returns a 500 Internal Server Error.

Interesting effect of this.
Was “informed” - on my dashboard - of an ID update (referenced in the url), but the ID is not showing (just the 4 month old ID). Despite this the observation ID has updated (from plant to Arctotis), but not the community ID (still plant) - 1 ID.
