Fake fungi camouflage: could there be more? In iNat?

I bet many of you heard this story from a few days back:
https://newatlas.com/biology/excastra-albopilosa-long-haired-beetle-fungus/

And from the BBC:
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-68622828

This made me wonder about the possibility of other species who may have possibly adapted this disguise. Could they even be lurking in some ignored pile of iNat observations of infected insects?

One thing for sure. With any future fungi deaths I see out there, I’ll be giving them a poke!

So cool! That’s the researcher in the article! He does iNat! I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised. iNat is a great tool!
