Happy national moth week everyone!

Yesterday and today’s rain put a damper on the moth count but I was glad to see a rosy aemelia. They are listed as EN (N2N3) or imperiled here so it is always great to see one.

I am not putting in any effort to find any moth, yet one decided to fly into my bedroom a few days ago, which never happened before. And I found another that I startled when watering my balcony plants. So indeed, happy national moth week everyone!

I finally got my first Herald Moth this week. Been a little slow, and I haven’t put my canvas out this year.

One side of my apartment faces a brightly lit parking lot. Not going to see any moths there (and I need blackout curtains to sleep). The other side faces a line of trees, and the building beyond is only occupied during the daytime. So, I tried using just the normal outdoor light on that side. I got exactly one moth, which I think was a Common Gray.
