Higher taxa inconsistently skipped in Lists

Description of problem:

Whether any particular taxon above species appears as part of my life list seems to be inconsistent, resulting in confusing behaviour when I try to do things with the list.

Here, for example, it skips the horsetail family and goes straight from subclass to genus. The royal fern family is included but the brake family is skipped:

The result is that if I compare a list of only families with my life list, it acts as if I haven’t observed families which I clearly have observed. Additionally, the top taxon here should be Class Polypodiopsida rather than Class Lycopodiopsida, and that list item cycles between different taxa when I refresh.

This doesn’t solve your bug with list comparisons, but it’s interesting to note (and may help the developer’s isolate the problem) that if you look at your list in taxonomic view rather than plain view both the horsetail family (Equisetaceae) and the brake family (Pteridaceae) do show. Obviously the system knows they are there but skips them in plain view and in the list comparison. Apparently some difference in how the full taxonomy is generated “on the fly” in the different cases.
