How can we help conserve the Puerto Rican Spotted Toad?

I just saw the halftime show with bad bunny and was shocked to see a toad. Turns out the little guy is endangered.

Is there anything we can do as a community to help out here?

We have fewer than 100 obs of the little guys.

The little that I’ve read, the challenges facing the coquí include a lot of habitat level destruction from the hurricanes. I’m sure that’s not the only issue, but I remember seeing that.

Ironically, the coquí is an invasive species in Hawai’i.

This isn’t the coquí, which I’ve heard in San Juan and which belongs to the genus Eleutherodactylus. This is Peltophryne lemur, and none of the sightings on iNat are in San Juan. They’re mostly in the southwest, with some on the north coast west of San Juan.

Ohhh, ok. Thank you for clarifying!!

At what point was the toad?

You can see the little guy throughout the show, but they focus on it around here →
