How iNat helped me appear in the #1 newspaper of my country

Exciting News! :newspaper::lady_beetle:

I’m thrilled to share that an insect I recently observed for the first time in my country made it all the way to the top newspaper in the nation!

After spotting and uploading the observation to iNaturalist, it was quickly identified by some of our iNat experts. The finding then caught the attention of a well-known botanical Facebook page. From there, things escalated — the national newspaper reached out, interviewed me, and featured the discovery in their environmental segment the very next day!

It’s an incredible feeling to see a personal observation spark wider interest in biodiversity and nature. I’m so grateful to the amazing iNaturalist community.

This experience is a great reminder of how valuable citizen science can be — you never know how one small moment in nature can lead to something much bigger.:grin:

I initially misunderstood, but I do in fact have the link.

The article highlights my finding, as well as another new plant record for the area from the same week, both documented on iNaturalist. Plant observation.

In the end, the comments became overly political.
Nevertheless, I’m honored to be featured—many thanks to the wonderful iNaturalist community!
