“C’mon. Don’t you want your 15 minutes of fame? PLEASE!”

The feeling is familiar. Especially as my phone’s macro camera setting doesn’t have a good shutter speed and it’s inadjustable. This leads to images looking like the critter is Flash running across the picture, with the background being clear. :sweat_smile:

Last Sunday again, same story,
In such moments, I rather like to memorize the other events.
I had a butterfly sometime this year in spring. Usually, this kind is as shy as all the others. But my friend let me do a photoshoot for 10 min. Then we both went brave, and he came even into my finger and let me macro his eyes down to the cilia.
One of my best observations in 2025 which can compensate for alot.

So real:broken_heart::broken_heart::smiling_face_with_tear:

Aww that is such an adorable moment! Even if butterflies cannot think, i think the butterfly got used to your presence and found you safe to sit on. But can i ask for the link? Its okay if not.

That is the face I wear when returning to a standing position after inhuman photographer yoga positions held too long trying trying trying to get it in focus… just to have it fly away

Leafhoppers: the masters of peek-a-boo.

The frustration, man.

Oh my gosh that is so relatable. I almost strained my back and legs just to photograph an interesting looking fly just for it to dart off, I don’t know why they hate being famous

How dare this negatively phototropic organism move away from my glaringly bright headlamp and flash…

I mean, I get it, but I will leave you alone a lot quicker if you could pause for like 10 seconds.

My daughter is extremely good at capturing flies in drinking glasses. Sometimes even from the air. Gives me time to wait until they are in a spot to have no distortions and have become used to my phone near the glass to stay still, maybe doing a bit of self-hygiene, and then I’ll get a shot or few.

The little jerk started sprinting for the leaf edge as soon as I leveled the camera. I was only able to fire off this one shot before it plunged into the tall grass. A lengthy search yielded nothing.

Some bugs really do not want to become famous. Can’t they just atleast stay still for 10 seconds?

Oh so many missed opportunities over the years. :cry: Everything from bugs to large mammals. Thankfully, my memory isn’t good for those and I have lots photos for the ones that did cooperate to reinforce the good memories. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Oh, mammals, I just remembered from last Winter. It was already almost dark, and I was walking across the yard of our apt complex, when I spotted a red fox sniffing the smells of last Summer around the BBQ spot. I stopped behind the edge of a bush, slowly took my phone out and set the settings as I knew I’d get one shot… and I didn’t get that either, as the yard lights switched as I on and the fox sprinted off. :laughing:
