Photography outtakes - humor

I need some chuckles and this community does not disappoint.

So we all take a LOT of photos. Mostly, the photos are of organisms. Yet sometimes, things go awry and we don’t find out till we get back to the equivalent of basecamp and review. Maybe we filmed something in slow-mo, or we sneezed at the last minute or accidentally activated selfie mode. These are the outtakes.

Show us your outtakes, the mishaps that happened while trying to get your shot. This one is of me trying to photograph aquatic macroinvertebrates. I did not realize I had activated selfie mode. I title it “Bug’s Eye View”

I didn’t quite get the timing right for this American Black Bear…
…or the focus…
…except for the toes.

This one could be titled “Self portrait as a shadow” while trying to photograph something. Whatever it was, it got away. Or maybe it was really winning at camouflage…

I bet it still could reach RG!

Valuable for CV training, too. How else is the model going to know how to distinguish between the soles of different species’ feet?

I really did have this immature Agami Heron in frame. Really.

And then it decided to look at something far away.

Woopsie! Anyone want to guess what this was supposed to be a picture of?
(Non-swirled version - spoilers, obviously)

Very avant garde. If you could alter it to make it look like it was painted and put it on canvas, I bet it would sell for big money. Entitled: Man’s Descent Into Greenery.

Yeah, I actually like it, even though it was completely unintentional. Sometimes I use it as a background for my computer screen. That’s why 15 years later I still haven’t deleted it.

Honestly, though, it’s an interesting photo! It looks like it’s frolicking through the flowers :)

I think that’s a great shot… the suspense between the camouflaged frog and the three potential tasty ones …

Not one of the goldfinches is in focus,

but I posted it and it became RG pretty fast https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/146774059

This happens far more than I care to admit: Trying to photograph an under-water animal, but leaving on the flash… It kinda looks like the worksheets you’d get at school that were photocopied with a very old and dirty scanner:

Of course, the animal got startled by the flash and disappeared, so this was the only shot I got. Not that useful for identification, sadly.
