How many different countries do you have INat observations from?

Nothing from the poles, and nothing from Australia though I have been there. Its mostly been travel for work, and mostly to cities, so naturalising is pretty ad hoc. I do manage Europe, Africa, both Americas, the middle east. The heatmap was handy to check this - https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/map?user_id=lera - but sounds like some of you have found a way to extract a list of countries?

Just one country, Canada. All in Ontario with the exception of Temiscaming Quebec (just 46 observations out of 7842) which is just a 45 minute drive from North Bay, Ontario.

Unfortuntely, some countries where I made port while in the Navy did not result in observations. Do you know how frustrating it is to be be in Brunei, known for being (at that time) 73% forested, and not have time to leave the city?

By continent:
North America

  • United States
  • Costa Rica

South America

  • Venezuela
  • Ecuador

Caribbean

  • Dominican Republic
  • Trinidad and Tobago

Africa

  • Namibia

Asia

  • Taiwan
  • Thailand
  • Hong Kong and Macau
  • Malaysia
  • Japan

Australia

Pacific

  • Federated States of Micronesia
  • French Polynesia
  • (I’m counting Hawaii because it is so different from the mainland USA)

How in the world do I not have any from Canada? I’ve been there three times!

I haven’t done a global one yet, but if anyone wants a tracking spreadsheet for observations in the US by state/territory, you’re welcome to copy mine: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qVzB-uNYvFCbyD0_ZB8uRpt2Sg3zhxUu9xeReL-rrCc/edit?gid=0#gid=0
Just globally replace my username with your own in the URLs.

Amazing, this is my type of hobby tracking !

Since I’m not a frequent out of country traveller I’ve been wanting to do something similar for a list of countries that I’ve helped with IDs in and this might be my final push to do that haha

Thank you! I actually have this link bookmarked xD What I really want is a list of countries I have and haven’t ID’d anything in. Just for fun really, it wouldn’t really be informative/useful of anything for me otherwise haha

Hopefully someone will come good with that OR make a forum post asking for it!

Yeah I was playing with the API stuff earlier (don’t really know what I’m doing with it yet) but if I don’t figure it out, I may be the person to make the forum post :P

This is why I have no obs from Europe - although in my case it was because these resources didn’t exist in my life yet! If only I could go back; there were so many lifers then.

additionally I have observations from Peru and Czech Republik , the only exclusively holiday locations so far, but Czech Republik will quite probably join the living-and-work-club later this year and will then get more observations by me

I’m lucky that I’ve had a job that allowed me to travel quite a bit. I count US territories as countries. Unfortunately I did most of this traveling before I got into iNat so I really missed out on a lot of observations. My trip to Moldova and Ukraine was in the dead of winter, so not many opportunities there.
Brazil
Cuba
Puerto Rico
St. Croix
Italy
Romania

I have two novelty observations, one in Italy and one in Japan. Both were found in the broadcast or posts associated MotoGP racing event.

This sounds like a violation of iNat guidelines: https://help.inaturalist.org/en/support/solutions/articles/151000169928-what-kind-of-photos-or-sounds-should-i-attach-to-observations-
