How to best post a message/question?

I sometimes see messages in my iNat feed, e.g., Kueda’s lunch gatherings announcements or taxa changes.

I want to let it be known that in September I’m hiking the John Muir Trail and taking a camera. Are there any species that you would want me to be on the lookout for.
I’m not stoked about carrying my camera but can’t go without it.
Carrying 9 batteries since any charging unit I’ve found is much heavier.
