How to easily filter on subscribed taxa in the Identify interface?

Hi,

I have subscribed to quite a few taxa I like to add ID’s for on a frequent basis, but identifying from the dashboard screen is cumbersome and I am missing features like the suggestions in the Identify interface.

Also updates in the dashboard only go back for a few hours when having many active subscriptions… then you have to click on more and get a few more hours. When I am away from the website for a couple of days, catching up with all updates is quite impossible.

What I would like is to only include my subscribed taxa in the identify screen… Yes, I know I can fiddle with the url and add a long list of taxons using taxon_id=…&taxon_id=… and so on, but my list is too long and it also changes from time to time. If I add that URL to my favorites, I would have to constantly adapt it…

Is there any “taxon_id=subscribed” or similar shortcut I could use that would only include my subscribed taxa and would always reflect the latest changes to my subscriptions. I know it’s wishful thinking, but that would help me a lot. Any suggestion which could guide me on the right path is welcome of course :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks!

as far as i know, there’s no straightforward way to accomplish what you’re asking for. any method for achieving this is going to involve getting the taxa from https://www.inaturalist.org/subscriptions?type=taxon and stringing them together in a URL. there could be ways to automate that process perhaps (probably similar to the methods described in https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/is-there-a-way-to-bring-your-favorites-into-the-explore-tab/52605), but these are not necessarily easy to do, depending on your ability to adopt new workflows.

The easiest way I’ve found to do this is to create a list with the taxa I want to ‘subscribe’ to, and then bookmark a url with the identify page set to pull from that list. You just have to add “list_id=blank” to your url.

That’s a great idea actually! I did not think of creating a list. When subscribing to a new taxon, I should also add it to my “ID-list”, then the URL does not need to get adapted. I did a quick test and it is the best option so far, thanks for the suggestion!
