what do exactly you want to record / capture in your database? you could do something as simple as a list, captured in and shareable via a Google Sheets spreadsheet or something similar.

are you intending to record images and locations?

do you need it to be searchable? (for example, nests in a particular part of the city by a particular type of bird)
