How to show a map of observations with a specific annotation?

Is there a reason annotations are not available in the Explore filter? I thought I could add a Flower annotation and then use it to search later for those plants by date and in a particular area. This works in the Identify mode, but that’s not what I wanted it for.

Alternatively, is there another way to get a list or map of observations filtered in part on an annotation, that I can download to refer to?

thanks for the workaround! clumsy, but it’ll do. I notice the rework of the explore mode filter is 6yrs overdue…

you’re not wrong. i think they didn’t set expectations properly back in the day. they made it sound like they were going to do a lot of changes that year – the Explore page revamp being just one of many things – and i think they just weren’t realistic with their timelines.

they’re supposed to be sharing a new “product roadmap” in a blog post in the coming week. so hopefully that will provide us a more realistic picture of what will and won’t happen over the next x number of years.

@lowclouds I created a website that adds features and filters not present in the iNaturalist explore page. I added the ability to search by annotator and annotations. Here is a map showing observations that lowclouds added ‘flower’ annotation.

https://inat-explorer.dataexplorers.info/?verifiable=true&spam=false&term_id=12&per_page=24&annotation_user_id=439621&term_value_id=13

  • Search for “Annotator”.
  • type in lowclouds
  • click ‘Filters’ button
  • click ‘Annotations’ tab. Click ‘Flowers and Fruits’ checkbox. Click ‘Flowers’

The site also show the annotations for each observations,

If you click the download icon, and click the “iNaturalist export page”, that will take you to the iNaturalist “Export Observations” page where you can download observations selected on my site.
