If the leaves fall to the ground

Similar, perhaps, to the question, “If a tree falls in a forest, and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound?”

If the leaves of a captive/cultivated tree fall to the ground during autumn and an observation includes only those leaves on the ground, is the observation itself captive/cultivated? :)
