Imagine coordinate tagging for phenology

I do a decent amount of phenology annotation and i am wondering if it would be useful to have the ability to mark the coordinates in an image of fruit for example. 2 sets of x & y coordinates that will set a box at the location of the fruit. Some fruit can be pretty hard to spot either because its small, slightly out of focus or partially obscured by leaves. This would be useful for people that are verifying annotations from other users.

I am also wondering if this is implemented the AI could use the data to suggest observations that might also be fruiting or flowering and might be able to increase the accuracy of general species suggestion.

Approved this but until iNat introduces some sort of photo-level annotations, it wouldn’t be something we’d add on its own.

iNat staff are working hard behind the scenes to improve the CV . . . is a phenology component coming to the automated suggestions?

“These species are frequently spotted at this time of year in your location”

I’m going to close this request. Some sort of image annotation functionality is something iNaturalist would like to do. If/when that happens, consider making a new request if the functionality isn’t already included.
