I reached 4000 individual spider observations last week, proving that my happy obsession with our eight legged friends are still going strong! Only 129 spider species though, which is no surprise as spiders are way underdescribed here, and most need to be examined under a microscope to determine species as well. I do not have a permit to collect, so staying at photographic records for now. But loving it!
You for my local spiders and @ajott for my It’s A Spider - Help please?
I am not an expert, just an enthusiast. The experts are few and far between and busy with life. I have been trying to help - getting as many spiders to at least family level as I can before we are inundated during the CNC. Have cleared many pages, but realising how much I still have to learn!
6600 IDs, with the majority of them being leading and improving
Finally, a worthy milestone! I finally crossed the 10,000 identification mark. I’ve been trying to do 30 IDs per day for last 6 months and it is paying off.
Bravo!
By coincidence I just stumbled across this:
well, I have 2 recent milestones:
I recently crossed 100 species (I had joined in January this year) and 1000 identifications.
Congratulations! Excellent work given that you only started in January.
When I was getting close to 1k observations, a friend of mine asked, “What happens when you reach 1000 IDs?”
I told him, “I think I get a letter informing me that I’m now legally a nerd.”
I already have more than 1k ids.
2,000 observations as of yesterday!
I’ll hopefully be at 2,000 wild observations soon enough!
9,000 observations (including casual) and 180,000 IDs (on the identifications page, profile page says 172k). Also, 900 yard insect species observed, which wouldn’t be possible without iNat.
Bravo on the 900 yard insects! How much is there, if we look for it.
Sorry, I meant observations!
Although come to think of it, I don’t think I have 1000 IDs yet…
Today I checked my ids and found them at 1541! Quite good for me anyway… I do enjoy identifying a lot, isn’t it fun :) ? Today I made 78 ids, and I have also started identifying pentatomorpha a few days ago!
Even then, I’m aiming for 100 ids!
And yes I did it! 104 ids within a day!
I have the distinct feeling that iNaturalist as a whole passed the 300,000 mark for identifiers worldwide during the CNC. Hooray! And I hope some of the new identifiers stick around.
hit 10,000 ids today! 3,740 are supporting, 3,449 are improving and 2,604 are leading
