iNat Trips absence or presence of observations

Newbie TRIPS question. If I completed a trip and DID observe some butterflies, how to record those in my trip or is TRIPS only for absence of data? So I did see butterflies on my walk, I don’t bother adding a trip? Can one add / tag an observation to a trip?

The Trips functionality is there to help you record effort when looking for a taxon or taxa, and shoudl only be used if you were looking for specific taxon or taxa. So on this trip, were you specifically looking for butterflies? All butterflies? Certain species?

Without knowing your goal(s) it’s tough answer your questions.

I was looking for butterflies in a 1km stretch/transect. see https://www.inaturalist.org/trips/112988-dsf-butterflyway-lane-transect and saw a couple of cabbage whites. how do I record the cabbage whites from my ‘trip’? hope this makes sense?
