Inaturalist based games - collection thread

Hey,
I have seen here now quite a bunch of nicely done inat based games, from bingo to geogesser styled games they display a nice creative take on the biodiversity represented in inat :)

However its quite hard to find those websites/games.

Maybe we could collect the games and links in some post, f.e. here?

I will update this list:

There is this quiz called Taxonia - https://taxonia.app/. You need to know scientific names pretty well though… It is made by @benhall-7.

I will add that

I wrote the comment below in 2024 July:

Since I wrote that comment, I made a bunch of IDs on iNat.

Last night, I dove into plant taxonomy (NOT on iNat), so I just returned to Metaflora to see if I got any better at plant ID.

Before trying Metaflora, I thought I would try Metazooa (“20 questions” animal ID guessing game) to boost my confidence, since I’m much better at animal ID.

https://metazooa.com/

I wanted to share my reaction while it’s fresh in my mind.

This guessing game (Metazooa) teaches you how little you know about the higher or middle levels of taxonomy (like ParaHoxozoa — a clade of animals that consists of Bilateria, Placozoa, and Cnidaria).

So you’re forced to click on the Wikipedia links (provided with each guess) to understand these broad taxonomic groupings. You can’t just rely on the CV and tweak or confirm its guesses.

It’s different than IDing on iNat. They’re both valuable, in different ways.
