I am a botanist and professor researcher working with Neotropical plants, mainly Myrtaceae (especially Eugenia) in Brazil. I am developing a project to test the accuracy of different automated plant identification tools on Neotropical megadiverse groups. Our dataset has about 3,000 photos identified by specialists, and we are comparing the suggestions from different platforms with these expert identifications. I understand the vision API is not publicly available, so I would like to ask, is it possible to get research access to iNaturalist’s vision model API for a project like this?
