I was loading a variety of explore urls on a slow connection, and the page would ‘forget’ about the selected taxon and the page would redirect to the explore page for all taxa.
I’ve had this problem a bunch of times over the years on multiple computers. I think it’s linked to having a slower connection.
Initially the url bar at the top of the browser shows the correct url, and the page is in early stages of loading. Then suddenly the url changes at the top of the browser, and the page continues to load as if it’s simply the generic explore page.
Now that I think about it, I’ve also had this problem sometimes when loading certain unusual filters with a lot of results (like filtering for all observations by edanko, or all observations of a certain taxon in a certain radius) even on fast internet connections.
In response to your reply, I forced the problem to occur by loading 50 search pages at once in one browser window. The first few times I did this, the problem occurred, but nothing showed up in the console in the ‘parent process only’ view. Then I switched to ‘multiprocess’ view, but the problem stopped happening for the next 5 times I opened up 50 pages at once. Finally the problem recurred and I captured the console:
Initially just loading the pages, no obvious problems yet:
