Hello, I’ve been looking for a project about animals displaying homosexual behavior and I’m actually shocked that I haven’t been able to find one! Is there one that already exists and I’m just missing it?
If not, I’m thinking about making one myself, so please let me know if you have a photo of animals displaying homosexual behavior that you would like me to use as the icon for the project!

Observations of mating behavior are a small minority on iNat. Same-sex mating behavior observations will be even rarer.
It’s fairly common for male bees to try to mate with anything that looks vaguely like a female of their species, including other males. While this is mating behavior with an individual of the same sex, it is not clear whether it is necessarily what we would think of as homosexual behavior (in the sense of specifically seeking out members of the same sex for sexual purposes).
If one also includes engaging in mating behaviors (mounting etc.) being used as dominance displays, or other same-sex behaviors such as females co-parenting, the pool of potential observations might not be nearly as small it first seems.
But I suspect the lack of activity in the project at present is more related to the fact that it was only created about 2 weeks ago and it takes a while for people to find projects unless the project creator is very active adding observations and letting people know about it.
