Issues connecting inaturalist account to seek

Android versions of Inaturalist and seek

Android running on samsung s22

Inaturalist version 1.36.8 (628)

Seek version 2.17.1 (386)

Attempting to connect seek and Inaturalist and ecountering issues doing so. I made my inaturalist account with my google account. I cannot connect or figure out why things are not working.

Step 1: attempting to connect inaturalist to seek with existing inaturalist account which was made with "make account with google option

Step 2: enter information

Step 3:invalid email, password or username

No expert, but I think the Seek-iNat connection has only ever been from Seek to iNat not iNat to Seek.
Seek was developed for children, does not keep information about the person or the observations.
Also this message:
invalid email, password or username

May be indicating your problem. Something doesn’t match

Are you certain your iNat account has a password? If it was made with Google, it may have no password and you’ve only used the Google log in button for it. You can make a new password by resetting the password.

Correct, the primary reason to log in to your iNat account in Seek is to post to iNat from Seek. Observations on iNat will not sync back to Seek. Also, if you’re logged in to an iNat account you’ll see clickable links to Wikipedia in Seek.

The goal was to try to collect the badges for fun as well as collect data. But yeah in the end it will have to just be a non issue.

I tired that and it took me to a 404 whale shark page.

I often use Seek for its camera (I like how it handles my clip on lens) and for preliminary ID.
Sometimes I use the photo library to get those photos into Seek and I end up collecting badges that way.
I dump and reload Seek annually to start the list anew.
OH!
Welcome to the forum!!

Exactly where in the process did you see the whale shark?

Didnt get this notif. Sorry. I actually dont remember at this point very well.

I think it was during reset password. But theres no password because it was made with a “sign in with google” thing.
