I don’t know, if it’s a bug or not, so I first put it to discussion before writing a bug report.
I notice (because of the onboarding program), that for some extend new users have missing locations in their observations.
It’s only with the Android app, as far as I can see. I as well need to check and add the location manually in each observation, it does not automatically add it. That means, that I have to tap on “location”, than tap again on the GPS icon or type the place into the search field.
I could imagine, that especially new users often are not aware, that they need to do something there, so they miss the location and lots of observations will stay casual. For me it’s a pity and seems not encouraging to stay on iNat and use it more often. Yes, new users can also think a bit, about what they are doing and how new things will work.
Is it intented, that you need to manually add the location in each observation with more clicks than necessary?
