i guess you can disagree, but i’m not sure that’s going to change the fact that iNat staff have already decided to make no changes related to placeholder retention.

We’re not going to move forward with this. The term “placeholder” was chosen because its existence is ephemeral. People can always use the description field if they want to write something more permanent.
